      Sponsored by Macmillan Learning’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, this paid four-week project-based work experience program is designed to provide practical experience in the educational publishing and technology industry, including marketing, editorial, human resources, and engineering. In addition, externs in the program will participate in professional development programming and mentorship programming, including interactive, virtual meet-ups with Macmillan Learning’s executive team members and department leads.

      The Externship Program is a short-term, paid work experience for aspiring people, especially those who come from backgrounds that have traditionally been underrepresented, and marginalized in educational publishing and technology.

      The High School Editorial team is seeking an extern to assist us in focusing on strategic planning and development of digital resources to support our market-leading Advanced Placement (AP®) titles in our digital platforms. As in all aspects of our editorial development, this project will focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as we aim to ensure all students can see themselves in the content we develop.

      Pay Rate: $15/hour

      Length: 4 weeks

      Hours: 8 hours a week

      Location: This externship is eligible for remote employment, excluding the following locations: Arizona, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Washington DC, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington State, West Virginia, Wyoming.

      Project Title:

      Engaging High School Students in Digital Learning.

      Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Reviewing content with customers, and potential users.
      • Assisting with obtaining additional competitive analysis as we prepare for our launch.
      • Helping the High School Editorial team to increase our support for students by understanding how competitors support students, and how our current resources support students.
      • Interacting with Editorial team (including VP, Program Director, Program Managers, Development Editors, Media Editors, Editorial assistants), Product team, and potential customers.

      Required Qualifications:

      Project Outcome:

      At the end of this project, the extern will have had the opportunity to learn about how we create digital content, prepare for launching new products, and have customer focused program strategy.

      This position will be employed through Headway consulting firm.
